In early 2009 the foundation “INCEVIDA” was established with a purpose of identifying partners and actors who would be willing and competent in relation to setting up a research centre with focus on innovation conveyed through culture as well as research, development and communication of knowledge on cultural learning and education. It was furthermore an ambition for the founders that this new shared sphere of interest could be combined with an interregional focus where especially Denmark, Norway and Sweden would be in a strong position. In the longer run it was furthermore an ambition that a broader globalization perspective should be pursued based on the Scandinavian outlook. These development ambitions could be unfolded within the frames of the European research and development programmes as well as in bridge building to international research networks.

In 2010, based on the above ambitions, a specific cooperation initiative was launched with the Faculty of Humanities at Aalborg University regarding the mutual implementation of an Interregional Centre for Knowledge and Educational Studies. The research centre was established in 2010 in cooperation with a wide range of North Jutland business-, museum- and university representatives. The centre was launched in order to create growth opportunities between companies, cultural institutions and universities. The research centre’s specialty is innovation conveyed through culture, and the centre conducts research, develops and communicates new knowledge about cultural learning and education. Through dedicated research and communication, a new and result oriented approach is taken to the whole area with a view to culture based commercialization and growth.

Today the Foundation INCEVIDA functions as an independent consultancy unit to the director of the research centre, which secures both independency and outreach to surrounding society.
